"Hot Body, Cool Mind"- feat. Deep Thermal Body Therapies
(15 Sep 2007, Meritus Mandarin Hotel, Reception Hall, Level 5)

Saturday 15 Sep 2007 - The theme was "Hot Body, Cool Mind" for the official launch of Leonard Drake's new Deep Thermal Body Therapies, featuring the exciting range of Dermalogica's new range of professional body products (now used by therapists at Leonard Drake centres).

Opening the afternoon was an amazingly stunning yoga performance by two instructors from Absolute Yoga (Singapore's boutique hot yoga studios). The instructors showed the audience how Yoga could benefit mental and body health with a 15-minute segment aptly titled "Yoga for Calm Mind, Calm Body". Strength, agility, grace and flexibility in achieving and holding the yoga postures were clearly demonstrated, and left the audience with a "wow" factor!

The first two courses of the special 8-course oriental lunch delights were an appetizing deluxe cold combination platter (prawn salad, jellyfish, roast duck, char siew and seafood roll), and savoury shark's fin soup with conpoy and golden mushroom. The ladies enjoyed their food as Mr Micheal Wey, General Manager, Regional Business Development and Technical Education spoke about the importance of inculcating professional body treatments into one's lifestyle. Micheal highlighted the fact that we live in an extremely stressful world today and consume unnaturally processed or artificially enhanced foods that result in accumulation of bodily toxins, fats, and cellulite. He also spoke about skin disorders of the body and how the range of body treatments available at Leonard Drake can address the specific areas of concern.

Main speaker for the day, Ms Liz Fardon, from the International Dermal Institute continued to emphasize on body health - paying particular attention to the concept of heat, water and the "Thermo-neutral Zone" (not too hot or cold, nor shivering). Liz also explained how Dermalogica is not about being just another spa, but about offering a wellness therapy. She showed a 'live' demonstration of a deep thermal body treatment involving the therapeutic benefits of massage and the heat-activated thermal body stamping (using a phytoactive blend of Asian herbs, including Japanese wasabi, asian ginger root and white tea).

Besides witnessing the therapeutic treatment, the guest also got to see a 'live' interview with three Mrs Singapore winner (Alicia Chan, Mrs Singapore International World 2007; Cecilia Choudhury, Mrs Classic International World 2007; and Nimfa Pingalo, Mrs Singapore Earth 2007). The beauty queens shared their experiences in being a title holder, wife and mother, and personal enjoyment with body treatments at Leonard Drake. They further mesmerized the guests by gyrating in a choreographed form of bellydancing and modern dance to the heart-stopping rhythms of Shakira.

And if that was not enough, hot promotions were the order of the day for the new De-Stressing Deep Thermal Body Treatment, which guests were quick to snap up on their credit cards. Emcee Ms Sharlyn Lim thrilled the audience with a fun table game with mystery prizes, and especially had a ball of a time calling out hot numbers for the lucky draw prizes that included the following :
